a little bit  of info...

Rafiki Mwema is a therapeutic home for children in Nakuru Kenya who have suffered unimaginable abuse. We currently have four houses on our block of land just outside of town providing a home, food and nourishment, trauma therapy, access to education and most importantly a loving family to the boys and girls that the world chooses to forget.

Rafiki Farm is home to over 80 children and our four houses provide a safe and therapeutic environment for these boys and girls to grow and heal. While some children are able to eventually return to family when it is safe (with our ongoing support and outreach until adulthood) some will stay with us until they are able to secure employment and live independently.

We are currently funded completely by donations and sponsorship, and this is often challenging and stressful for our team. We are always looking for corporate sponsors and are keen to building long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships, to ensure we can provide a sustainable future for our current family and all those who need us in the future.

Our second An African Affair Gala evening will take place on the Gold Coast in 2020 and guests will join the Rafiki founders Anne-Marie and Sarah and extra special guests, Kenyan artist and activist OCTOPIZZO who will be our keynote speaker, at the new The Island Glasshouse Surfers Paradise for an exciting night not to be missed. The multi-talented OKENYO will be performing for us.

Corporate sponsorship plays a critical role in the success of these events. By underwriting gala event costs, a larger percentage of proceeds can be donated towards our goal for 2020, to develop a number of social enterprise and fair work opportunities in Nakuru to ensure employment opportunities for our older children and their families, and sustainable funding for Rafiki Mwema.

Growing each year, this event provides an ideal opportunity for organisations to increase their brand awareness and demonstrates a commitment to a worthy cause. We hope you will take this opportunity to develop a partnership with our organisation. Together, we can support our children to become emotionally connected, caring and empowered young people and adolescents and provide them with sustainable employment opportunities for their future.

There are several exclusive opportunities to sponsor our event and we will be making your support and how grateful we are to have you on board known. Please review the prospectus and feel free to contact us if you would like to customise your sponsorship. We are an Australian registered charity and can provide an invoice for sponsorship.

We will not let the world’s most vulnerable kids be forgotten, help us to raise awareness and raise funds. We will not stay silent. Will you?
