What people say
The webinar was an amazing experience to get insight directly from Peter on his experience both positively and negatively. It was also beneficial to hear from Peter's mom and Sarah Rosborg who both moderated the live segment and shared how mothers should handle their kids at home with motherly love, and how to make them always feel loved whenever they arrive home from school.
I couldn't hold my laughter when Peter said that he was so quiet when he went to college in the UK to an extent that everyone thought he will never speak but I did understand how he felt which is sad indeed.
In the future, I think it would be wise to involve Kenyan teachers in these webinars so that they can learn aspects of how to handle kids with trauma. Looking forward to many more webinars.
Loved the recent webinar re consequences - lots of useful, practical information which could be implemented across so many scenarios.
Having Anne Marie and Peter alongside each other was really great - AM is such a fantastic communicator, so clear and concise in her explanations. And having Peter's supporting thoughts and input really grounded what she was saying.
I also think it's great having Sarah as a mediator/host - being able to email questions is beneficial and really makes it feel as though you're involved as more than a viewer. And when she jumps in to clarify things sometimes as well it's great as it's often exactly what you're thinking or unsure of too!
Thanks so much for this webinar! It was amazing to hear Peter‘s perspective and to see how he and Anne-Marie interact. It really gave me hope that ANY child can respond to strong and consistent love and understanding/empathy.
Loved the webinar! I always benefit from listening to Anne Marie - her relaxed, calm & patient approach to working with traumatised children is extraordinary. Having Peter there to describe his thoughts & feelings makes it so much more real & helps give us a greater understanding & insight.
Thank you Rafiki for providing these weekly webinars during this time in self isolation. I appreciate it so much.
Can I just thank you again for your webinars, I have to say that they really do act as an anchor for us adults in these unsettling times. It's actually a bit of me time in the week, an hour of sit down and allow oneself a bit of compassion. I also think that it's enabling me to see how this is a 2nd chance at the early days with the children, but that is 8 years on from the 1st chance, and now being more skilled, more PACEful. Thanks for giving at this difficult time for all, we won't forget it.
I want to say thank you to Anne-Marie and Sarah for last night's webinar. It was absolutely so helpful to me, not only as a mother but as a teacher too. I have changed my interactions with my daughter today and seen such a change in her. I also took on the advice for my teenage students today. To see their faces today when we spoke about their feelings and my understanding of these feelings before we worried about their work was priceless. There was a huge shift in them which then allowed for a better lesson that I know they took on board more openly. I couldn’t thank you both enough for last night.
