Aunty Prudence joined Rafiki Mwema in 2019 as the Office and Store Manager on Doyle Farm. Her role is critical, ensuring our day-to-day operations run smoothly. Skilful and passionate, she keeps our Kenya office in order and helps to co-ordinate the activities of our staff and children. This means the rest of our team can perform their jobs effectively. It is a huge job and we are grateful to have her.
Below, Aunty Prudence shares with us a little about her role on Doyle Farm, what it involves and what she loves most about it.
What most interested you in working with Rafiki Mwema?
Rafiki is a beautiful place. Here I get to practice my profession by helping the children who need my support and protection. I feel so compassionate to be providing them with basic needs and ensuring that whatever is needed for them to live in harmony and comfortably is provided to them in time .
Tell us a little bit about your job and what it involves.
I have an interesting role as an office manager and I also manage the store.
As Office Manager, I ensure that all the correspondences and data needed are safe and available in time and do the bookkeeping. I also prepare the staff pay rolls and assist the General Manager with his office work.
As a Store Manager, I make sure that there are enough food stocks in the store. I then issue this out to the various houses and ensure that there is no wastage of food or resources that are available to us.
What is your favourite thing about being part of the Rafiki team?
Every day I see the smiles of the kids being restored. I see them gaining confidence again due to the love they’re given by both the staff and the directors.
I enjoy being able to meet the expectations of the directors and them appreciating the work I do at Rafiki Mwema.
