After months (and months) of ideas, planning, fundraisers and re-jigged events (due to the COVID-19 pandemic), we are so excited to announce the launch of our very own social enterprise project, Rafiki Social.

This project will be an ongoing labour of love for the team here in Australia and Kenya, to ensure our children are equipped with the necessary skills and experience they’ll need to enjoy a sustainable future when they leave Doyle Farm, the home of Rafiki Mwema, in Nakuru, Kenya.

We have our very own GIF’s! Search for us on your social’s (Rafiki Mwema & Rafiki Social) and share share share!

Rafiki Mwema provides a safe, loving and therapeutic environment for children who have experienced unimaginable trauma, often at the hands of those they trust most in the world.

Children, some as young as 18 months, are brought to the safety of our farm via the police and court systems, where they receive essential therapy, any required medical attention and buckets of love. We work through their trauma with them until we are satisfied they are able and it is safe for them to return to their families and communities. The children will then be under the watchful eye of our team of outreach workers until they reach adulthood.

From as little as $20 a month you can change their future forever.

But what then? We know how tough life can be in Kenya for a young person. We need to do all we can to make sure our kids have skills, knowledge and confidence to lead self-sufficient lives. We want them to leave us and grow. To become independent adults and loving parents. Above all, we want to break the cycle of neglect and abuse that sadly is all too common in Kenya.

We need your help to build their future. Our Rafiki Social program will develop social enterprise opportunities, provide vocational training and organise work experience through local businesses.

Our goal is to build a multipurpose shop front which will be adaptable to the skills and services needed in our surrounding villages. It will include back of house training and front of house businesses such as a hairdressers, own-grown fruit and veggie produce stall and sewing workshop.
