💛 We can only do the work we do at Rafiki Mwema because of the generosity of our incredible supporters, and this amazing excursion is just one example of the impact your kindness makes.

One very special friend of Rafiki Mwema, Danielle Colley, has been with us since the beginning. She has visited the farm, seen our work firsthand, and has supported us in countless ways over the years. One thing that is especially close to her heart is providing funds for our team to take the children on memorable days out—because she deeply understands the joy and healing these special experiences bring to our family.

This year, Danielle reached out to see what our Kenyan team might suggest for a meaningful day out for the entire family. After discussing ideas with our Kenyan Country Director, Nicholus, we landed on a fantastic adventure—an unforgettable experience at Hell’s Gate National Park! 🦓🌿✨

We invite you to read the recap of this magical day, shared in the words of our Kenyan team, along with some breathtaking photos from the excursion.
A heartfelt thank you to Danielle for making this beautiful experience possible! 🙏🏾💛 for making this a possibility!🙏🏾

It was on 19th December when our children and staff were prepared to set off for the excursion. Everyone was ready at the right time. We took off at around 7 a.m. and there was a lot of excitement on our way, kids were wailing, laughing and having fun inside the bus as we were going. On our way, we had a stop over to buy some drinks and snacks.

On arrival at Hell’s gate, everyone alighted the vehicle as we were lining up to get inside the National Park. Our tour guide was very patient with us and would answer every question asked by the staff and the children. The kids had the chance to see many animals and shouted near the echoing wall. They also enjoyed seeing the gorge, a historic gorge which is said to have formed since the beginning of the world with mysterious history of a massive flood coming unnoticed eroded the walls and carried people away. They also enjoyed playing in water both cold and hot inside the gorge with many fantastic photos The small kids were all exhausted inside the gorge and they were to be carried by our staff. On coming out from the gouge, the kids were exhausted but later after drinking water, they all got the energy back.

The kids also saw the Olkaria geothermal company after which they went swimming in the SPA and they really enjoyed it. It was fun swimming in the warm pool while the rain drizzled, the small kids got out of the water first thereafter the bigger kids. They also had some snacks and chicken, chips and soda. The journey was successful and we later in the evening arrived at Doyle farm safely.

Thank you Danielle for thinking about our family and making this special day a reality.
