Farmer & The Scientist
Jess (the Scientist) and her husband Brian (the Farmer) produce Shiraz, GSM, Tempranillo, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé and Pinot Grigio on 20 acres of vines. Their exciting wines are winning well-deserved awards, and the winery garnered a notable mention as ‘Heathcote Shiraz Winery of The Year’ at the 2018 Melbourne International Wine Competition.
Now, they’re producing a very special collection exclusively for Rafiki Mwema.
Called Rafiki Zabibu – meaning “grape friend” in Swahili – our collection includes a divine red (Heathcote Shiraz) and an exquisite white (Pinot Grigio). Rafiki Zabibu wines are available to order online now!
Every bottle sold directly helps our work and children at Rafiki Mwema.
- 1 bottle pays a care worker’s wage for a day
- 6 bottles pay for one week of medical supplies
- 12 bottles (one case) send a child to school for a year
- 24 bottles (two cases) feed 35 children for a week
The story behind Rafiki Zabibu
As some may remember, few years ago, hugely popular blogger Constance Hall launched a fundraising campaign for us to raise the finances we needed to build a new home, The Queens Castle, for our bigger girls.
The fundraiser exceeded everyone’s expectations – we raised the funds we needed in less than a week and made front page headlines all over the world.
Jess discovered Rafiki Mwema through this campaign and has followed Rafiki ever since. With small children of her own, Jess says she just can’t sit by and do nothing, so she came up with a truly brilliant idea – to pair wine with Rafiki!
