The Rafiki Jasiri School is one of our proudest achievements. As a purpose built space dedicated to the education of our vulnerable young girls, the school is vital to their recovery. It is a safe environment where they can focus on creating a better future for themselves within the community.
Uncle Jack is Manager of Rafiki Jasiri School and has been a member of the Rafiki Mwema family for six years. He is committed to giving a new life and future to our children and sees education as a key part of this process. He recently shared with us what he loves most about his role.
What most interested you in working with Rafiki Mwema?
I appreciate the work Rafiki Mwema does because it is not an easy task. Many people try to avoid it and in Kenya we do not have many places like it.
The support and help Rafiki gives to our vulnerable children is very amazing. They give back a new life to our children who have lost their lives within the community.
Uncle Jack, tell us little bit about your job and what it involves.
As Manager of Rafiki Jasiri School my work is to oversee the teachers at Rafiki Jasiri. This means coordinating them and making sure that learning materials are available to make learning very much conducive.
I also work with teachers from outside schools where our children learn and follow the performance of our children there. This involves checking their academic and general school progress and handling any issues relating to their academic excellence and discipline. I also ensure that any learning materials and academic requirements are available to them.
What is your favourite thing about beingManager of Rafiki Jasiri School?
Rafiki has been a home to me and the environment is very friendly. Every time I enter my heart is filled with joy as I see, talk, play with and teach the kids. Also to see the staff filled with love and joy.
