We mentioned a little while ago about a surprise that we were all so excited about and we are beyond excited to finally let you in on our wonderful news!
After years of planning and months and months of applications (84 in fact!) and many interviews, we are thrilled to introduce you to Nicholus, our new Country Director for Rafiki Mwema Therapeutic Centre (RMTC).

Sarah has always advocated for our homes to be completely Kenyan run. In the last few years we have all worked really hard to get to this stage and we could not be happier.
Nicholus comes to RMTC with years of not-for-profit experience and we know that he will be an incredible leader for our wonderful staff and they will go from strength to strength under his leadership.
Sarah is thrilled to hand the reigns over to the incredible team in Kenya so she can focus on fundraising and running things here in Australia with the rest of the amazing Australian team.
Nicholus explains below what made him apply for this role with Rafiki and also his thoughts after being with us a week so far.
“I applied for this role because I have so much passion for enabling children to achieve their dreams and in this role, where I would be working more closely with many children who are in so much need, I felt this was the right place to be in. I was right.
There is so much positivity in the work we are doing. I feel so fulfilled whenever I get to play or speak positive words with the children. The staff are amazing and are inspired to the calling. Of course, I cannot fail to mention some moments when I’ve had to shed tears, when I learn about the horrors some of the girls went through.
I’m very positive that we are going to enhance our programs and create more sustainable impacts to the lives of the children and the communities we work in and fight off child abuse.”
Welcome to our very large family, Nicholus. We know we have chosen the right person for this very important role and we can’t wait to see the impact you and the team will have in Nakuru and surrounds.
