Our sincere thanks to RICS for this opportunity to share the work of Rafiki Mwema with conference attendees and to shine a light on the healing journey of children who have experienced deep trauma and abuse. Who we are
Rafiki Mwema exists to provide safety, therapeutic care, and long-term support for children in Kenya who have experienced trauma, abuse, and neglect.
Our work is centred around helping children move from crisis and trauma toward healing and hope. Through trauma-informed care, therapy, safe housing, education, and consistent support, we walk alongside children as they begin to rebuild their lives.
This work is both deeply needed and deeply personal. Every child deserves to feel safe. Every child deserves the opportunity to heal. Every child deserves hope for the future.
Why this matters
The children we support have often experienced significant harm at a very young age. Healing from trauma takes time, specialised care, and a safe environment where trust can be rebuilt.
At Rafiki Mwema, we are committed to providing that care through a model that is relational, therapeutic, and child-centred. Our aim is not only to meet immediate needs, but to support long-term healing and restoration.
