At Rafiki Mwema, our mission is fuelled by individuals whose impact is felt far beyond their job description. These are the people whose quiet strength, compassion, and relentless work ethic create an environment where healing and growth can flourish. This month, we are incredibly proud to honour one such person: our Employee of the Month, Naomi Wanjiku.
Naomi’s contributions as our Office Administrator are the bedrock of our daily operations, but her influence extends into every corner of Doyle Farm. She is a role model, a compassionate leader, and a true team player whose dedication has left a lasting mark on both the children and her colleagues.

The Pillar of Efficiency and Support
An organisation dedicated to care requires a seamless operational backbone, and Naomi is the architect of that efficiency. Her colleagues unanimously praise her incredible responsiveness. When a request is made, whether for a payment or a needed supply, Naomi’s reaction is almost instant. This diligence ensures that our outreach work continues without interruption and that the children’s daily routines are always supported. They never go without, thanks to her foresight and swift action.
But her role is not confined to spreadsheets and purchase orders. Naomi’s desk is in the same office as our Director, a testament to the trust and respect she has earned. She is known for her independent mind and sobriety, a staff member who is not swayed by the crowd but is guided by the best interests of the children. Her meticulous attention to detail and sound decision-making have made her an indispensable part of our team.

Going Above and Beyond the Call of Duty
What truly sets Naomi apart is her willingness to step into any role where help is needed, without a moment’s hesitation. A powerful example of her character came to light recently when the water pump at Doyle Farm malfunctioned. With the washing machine out of action, Naomi rolled up her sleeves and began hand-washing the children’s clothes, a task she continued for several days. As an office administrator, this was far beyond her duties, yet she did it to ensure the children had clean clothes and to relieve the stress on her fellow staff members.
This is not an isolated incident. On another occasion, a colleague was left juggling supervision of both the big and small girls’ houses while others were away. Noticing the strain, Naomi left her office work, went outside to engage the children, and helped supervise them as they washed their uniforms. Her intervention ensured lunch was ready on time and brought a huge sense of relief. It is this proactive, hands-on approach that demonstrates her profound commitment to teamwork and the well-being of our entire community.

A Heart for the Girls: Sharing Hope and Strength
Beyond her administrative and practical support, Naomi possesses a deep emotional intelligence and a genuine love for the children. She actively joins staff in counselling sessions, offering psychological and emotional support to the girls during their peer talks and reflections.
In a particularly touching moment, Naomi took the time to speak with a young woman, Ann Wairimu, who was preparing to exit our care. To inspire her, Naomi shared her own personal story of resilience, explaining how she completed high school while living with relatives for four years. This powerful example of perseverance lifted Ann’s spirits, giving her tangible proof that she could hold on and achieve her goals, no matter the obstacles. By sharing her vulnerability and strength, Naomi offered a gift of hope that resonated deeply.
A Humble Leader and Role Model
Naomi is described by her peers as perfect, respectful, and humble. She is a wonderful lady who is always neat, social, and approachable, with a great sense of humour that creates a positive atmosphere. When she makes a mistake, she is quick to apologise, demonstrating a maturity and integrity that her colleagues admire.
Her growth has been remarkable. Staff who have known her since she started in the role note the incredible difference and achievement in her performance. She has blossomed into a compassionate and confident leader who makes everyone’s work easier.

Thank You, Naomi
