Sandy Santa brought together all the things we love – sand, sun, Santa and community. For one afternoon in December Rafiki Mwema joined forces with ambassador Rikki Lee for a fundraising event with a festive twist. A seasonally inspired festive idea which lead to an impressive $8,000 being raised in one afternoon.
Sandy Santa started out as a chat over a coffee with our ambassador, Rikki-Lee Petrie. Just one month later, powerhouse Rikki-Lee and a team of big-hearted volunteers and sponsors brought it to life. Even the weather delivered the goods, with a truly stunning summer’s day.
The day started with Santa arriving in style – on a fire truck with a police escort. It was after all vital Santa arrived on time to help raise funds for our deserving children in Kenya. After some high-fives for making good time from the North Pole, Santa got down to business. Set up along the shores of Ballina’s Shaws Bay he met with children of the Northern Rivers well into the evening. Visitors were introduced to some local wildlife while waiting with thanks to the much loved Wildlife Twins. They also had the opportunity to grab some Rafiki Mwema merchandise.
