Sponsor a child
If you’d like to contribute to genuine transformation, please consider becoming a sponsor.
Sponsorship is the perfect way to create brighter futures for our children. It’s just AUD$50 a month to sponsor a child through Rafiki Mwema and makes a lifetime difference. If you’re an Australian resident, you can claim tax deductions for your sponsorship.
Hold a fundraiser
A fundraiser is a fantastic way to support Rafiki Mwema. Not only do fundraisers help us cover our monthly costs of AU$45k just to keep our doors open, but they raise awareness about the critical work that we do. From lemonade stalls to birthday donations, and hikes to yacht races, any kind of fundraiser is welcome at Rafiki Mwema! We love our fundraising heroes and would love you to join in too.

If you’re looking to increase your charitable impact or aiming to engage your staff in a meaningful workplace initiative, workplace giving may be just what you’re looking for. It’s a fantastic way for employees and employers to collaborate. The way it works is by setting up an automatic donation from an employee’s pre-tax salary, which is then matched by the employer to double the impact. Get started today!

Rafiki Mwema’s market stall is held every month at one of northern NSW’s weekend markets, selling products donated by Australian companies to raise funds for Rafiki Mwema. If you have high quality products and leftover stock from your business to donate, we’d love to hear from you! Every cent will go straight to our beautiful Rafiki family.

At Rafiki Mwema, once it’s safe to do so, our children return home. Many are from families who live in extreme poverty, putting them at increased risk of harm. To keep our children safe, we set up the Rafiki Social program, which empowers their families to start small businesses. Please help us give more families the chance to lift themselves out of poverty, and donate to Rafiki Social.

Our outreach program is critical to ensuring our children’s safety and wellbeing once they leave Rafiki Mwema and return to a safe, loving home. We support our children until they are 18 with regular visits, no matter how far away they live. In addition, the program reconnects our boys with their families and advocates in the community for our children’s rights.

You can write to the children of Rafiki Mwema. We all know the joy upon receiving a handwritten letter! It is absolutely priceless. The staff at Rafiki Mwema will help the children read the letters and any stickers, craft items etc will be shared around. While they speak the local language, Swahili they are also learning English at the house and this program will be an educational tool. Who would have thought so much goodness could come from writing a letter!

In the city of Nakuru, we serve a daily meal to around 80 children who have no home. It costs 9,500 KSH (approx AUD$130) each day to run the program, which covers staff wages, food, soap, sanitary items, footballs, dental and medical treatment, and medication. Most importantly, we show these young people that they have worth. Please help us make the lives of these vulnerable children that little bit easier to bear.
