Our annual Perth Golf Day is so much more than a day on the green—thanks to the unwavering dedication of our wonderful volunteer, Áine, who pours her heart into organising this event every single year. With the generous support of her sponsors, this day brings together a community driven by kindness, where every swing, every conversation, and every dollar raised creates real, life-changing impact for the children in our care. Over the years, Áine and her incredible network have helped us build everything from cattle barns to fish farms, providing safety and sustainability for our family in Kenya.
And this year, we’re dedicating the funds to one of our most important projects yet.
We are so excited to announce that all funds raised from our 4th Annual Rafiki Golf Day on 6th February 2026, organized once again by our amazing volunteer Áine with the help of her generous sponsors, will go directly towards building the Mfalme Mtoto House—The Child King House.
This project is close to our hearts, and it will provide a desperately needed sanctuary for boys recovering from unimaginable trauma.

Why a Transition House is More Than Just a Building
When children arrive at Rafiki Mwema, they carry with them the weight of experiences no child should ever have to endure. Healing from complex trauma is a delicate and deeply personal journey. For our boys, this process requires a unique environment—one that offers privacy, quiet, and a profound sense of security.
While our main house is a place of love and laughter, its busy and communal nature can be overwhelming for those needing to do the quiet, intensive work of healing. Our boys need a space away from the daily hustle, where they can feel safe enough to let their guard down, process their past, and begin to trust in the world again.
This is where the Mfalme Mtoto House comes in.

This detached transition house will be a true refuge. It’s designed to be a peaceful, private sanctuary where our boys can receive specialised, trauma-informed care tailored to their specific needs. It’s more than just bricks and mortar; it’s a promise. A promise that they are safe, that their healing is our priority, and that we will walk beside them as they rediscover their strength and build a new future.
This house will be a place where they can grow into the kings we know they are.

A Day of Purpose and Play at Maylands Golf Course
Every year, Áine brings the Perth community together with such incredible heart and generosity for our Golf Day. It’s her energy and her sponsors’ support that turn this event into something truly special. Yes, it’s a day filled with friendly competition, but most of all, it’s a day united by a shared purpose: to provide our children with the safety and love they deserve.
The funds raised by Áine and her wonderful sponsors at this event are vital. They allow us to not only keep our doors open but also to dream bigger and create specialised facilities like the Mfalme Mtoto House. Your support at the upcoming Golf Day—made possible by Áine’s tireless efforts—will help us lay the foundation, raise the walls, and furnish a home that will shelter and heal boys for years to come.

The Ripple Effect of Your Kindness
Looking back at what we’ve achieved together through past Golf Days organised by Áine is truly inspiring. With the steadfast help of her sponsors and our community, we’ve built an electric fence for security, a thriving fish farm for food sustainability, and a brand-new barn at Doyle Farm. Each project has added a layer of safety, stability, and hope to the lives of our children.
Now, we have the chance to do it again.
Building the Mfalme Mtoto House will have a lasting impact, providing a dedicated space for healing that will transform the recovery journey for so many of our boys. It will give them the best possible chance to move beyond their trauma and step into bright, healthy futures.
We know that, with Áine leading the way and her sponsors standing beside us, we can make this dream a reality. Thank you for believing in our children, for being part of something truly life-changing, and for recognizing the incredible efforts of Áine and her sponsor network. We can’t wait to see you on the course in February as we swing for a sanctuary.
If you’d like to learn more about sponsorship opportunities, Áine’s inspiring commitment, or to secure your tickets for the event, please visit our Golf Day event page. Together, with Áine and her sponsors, we can build this house and give our boys the home they need to heal.
