Christmas is a time of love, joy, and togetherness, and this year, thanks to the incredible generosity of Femmes d’Europe, our Rafiki Mtaani children experienced a celebration they will never forget.
For children living on the streets, the holiday season can often pass by like any other day—without the warmth of family meals, gifts, or the excitement that many of us associate with Christmas. But this year, something special happened.
A Day of Pure Joy
From the moment our Mtaani kids heard about the celebration, they couldn’t contain their excitement. They arrived early, ready to enjoy the day, knowing that something extraordinary was in store for them.
Our dedicated Mtaani team worked tirelessly to organise a full day of activities and festivities. The day kicked off with games and creative activities—football matches, running races, and beading workshops kept the children engaged and happy. Laughter and joy filled the air as nearly 150 children, along with mothers and their younger babies, took part in the celebration.
A Feast Like No Other
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a delicious meal, and thanks to the support from Femmes d’Europe, our talented Mtaani cooks prepared an absolute feast! The children and families enjoyed a spread of:
🍗 Meat and chicken
🥤 Cold sodas
🥖 Fresh bread
🍬 Sweets
🍛 Stew and chapati
🍉 Fresh fruits
No one went hungry that day—there was plenty of food to go around, and even enough for the children to take some home with them.
Gratitude Beyond Words
As always, the Mtaani children expressed their deep gratitude. Many of them shared how this was the first time in a long time they had felt so special, cared for, and truly part of a family. The appreciation was overwhelming, with countless voices thanking Rafiki Mwema and Femmes d’Europe for the love, care, and generosity shown to them.
