What is the Fat Mum Slim Gift Exchange?
It’s like a penpal match-up but with presents! Since 2012, this feel-good project has been bringing joy around the world, and making Christmas a little more fun. Participants will be able to choose whether to be matched with someone in their own country or with someone from around the world. Each person will be randomly matched with someone else, and they’ll have to treat them to lovely goodies to the value of AU$30, not including postage.
How will I know what to send my partner?
We have a bustling Facebook group where you can secretly discover what your partner likes, so that you can buy your partner some appropriate presents. We ask that once you have purchased your gifts for your partner, you wrap them and send them on by the send date of November 14th.
Is there an entry fee to join?
For the Gift Exchange again this year, we’re supporting the beautiful charity, Rafiki Mwema. The entry fee to play along in the gift exchange is AU$5. This year all monies raised from the entry fees will go towards a college fund for the older girls to continue their schooling.
The $5 entry fee is for each exchange you join. If you only want to play once, then it’s a $5 entry fee. If you want to play in two exchanges (say worldwide and Australia, that’s $10).
Is there a kids gift exchange?
This year we will be launching a worldwide kids gift exchange. And it includes the option for a Kids Gift Exchange! This is for children aged 0-18 years only. When joining, you can select whether you are happy to send internationally. If you’d rather send within your own country, please make sure that you do not select this option.
What’s the next steps?
- Sign up to the correct group. If you’d like to send anywhere in the world, select the WORLDWIDE group. Otherwise, please select the country group that you live in.
- Donate your $5 to Rafiki Mwema and make a difference to these gorgeous kids’ lives
- Wait for an email to pop into your inbox with all the next steps. It will include a link to our private Facebook group, and the appropriate Elfster group (this is where you’ll be assigned a partner).
- Remember, if you don’t follow the steps in the email by September 30th, you will miss out on being assigned a partner.
