Our family is big, active and busy
We help and care for Kenyan girls and boys who are survivors of sexual violence. They live with us on our farm, a refuge, for protection and care.
While they are with us, it is important that they can continue, or in some cases begin, their education, and attend medical appointments. The older children attend many different schools outside of Doyle Farm make the drop-offs and pick-ups pretty hectic.
Our wheels travel many miles each and every day. With all this activity, our smaller transport vans were not meeting the transportation needs of our 70+ children.
With your help… Enter: Our new bus!

In July 2026, a new Isuzu bus arrived at Doyle Farm in Nakuru, Kenya.
It now takes the children in our care to school each morning in one fell swoop, rather than children having to wait for ride number 2 or 3. It’s a big step for us as a small children’s charity in Kenya, and it was only possible because of you.
Bus arrival day
The day the bus arrived, the whole farm came out to see it. You could feel the excitement everywhere, the air was electric with anticipation!
Our driver, David, took everyone for a drive up and down the farm. The girls went first, then the boys. There was a lot of laughing and waving.
Our founder, Sarah, was visiting with her husband, Jonas and their daughter Lovisa. They were lucky enough to be there on the day and also got a fun-filled ride in the new bus.
No one was more excited than David. He has been praying for a new Isuzu for years. On that day, he told us his prayers had finally been answered!

This bus is a huge deal for the children of Rafiki Mwema
Until now, we used a small van for the school run. It could only carry a few children at a time. David had to drive back and forth many times every morning, which meant every child had to be up and ready very early, often hours before school started. Some would wait a long time for their turn, standing around in their school uniforms in the dark.

Calmer mornings and connection
Now, one bus takes everyone in a single trip. The children can sleep a little longer and have a calmer start to their day. They travel to school together, chatting and laughing – the ride to school has become another opportunity for connection rather than waiting around.
Small things like rest, routine and calm mornings matter a lot for children who are healing. These things help make the farm feel safe and steady, and the bus gives our Kenyan staff more time for the children.
